[Mat|Matrim Cauthon] gets ready to move into his rooms in the [Tarasin Palace] the same day as [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara]'s and [Elayne|Elayne Trakand]'s visit. The dice stopped rolling in his head when [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] mentioned the palace rooms.[1] [Caira|caira] is still angry with him. Mistress [Anan|setalle_anan] is out so he settles the bill with the cook [Enid|enid]. [Nalesean|Nalesean Aldiaya] and their servants [Nerim|nerim] and [Lopin|lopin] are pleased. [Vanin|Chel Vanin] would rather watch [Carridin|Jaichim Carridin]. [Harnan] and the [Redarms|Band of the Red Hand] all move into a barracks near the stables. As soon as he moves in [Tylin|Tylin Quintara] appears and begins to molest him. [Thom|Thom Merrilin] and [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] come by just in time. [Tylin|Tylin Quintara] leaves. They tell him about the girls' disguises. They all leave. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] goes to check on [Olver] in his room one floor below. Three maids, [Haesel|haesel], [Alis|alis] and [Loya|loya], are all helping him. Back in his rooms, [Thom|Thom Merrilin], [Juilin|Juilin Sandar], [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] and [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] arrive.[2] He assigns them bodyguards and they send him to watch the [Kin] house from a tavern across the street, [The Rose of the Eldar|../geography/altara/ebou_dar/rose_eldar]. [Nalesean|Nalesean Aldiaya], [Thom|Thom Merrilin] and [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] are with him. At twilight, [Harnan] and [Wat] relieve them. Back in his rooms he finds a note on thick white paper[3] from [Tylin|Tylin Quintara] asking for him. He locks his door and has no dinner. The next morning he bribes [Madic|madic] to move [Olver] into his room. [Vanin|Chel Vanin], watching [Carridin|Jaichim Carridin]'s palace, reports seeing [Aviendha] and [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion]. He did not recognize them, of course. He spotted the old man[4] but could not get a good look at him. [Vanin|Chel Vanin] wants to go with [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] so [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] sends [Thom|Thom Merrilin] and [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] to check on [Carridin|Jaichim Carridin]. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] spends two more days across from the [Kin] house. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] joins them. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] likes [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] as a friend. [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] learns that [Carridin|Jaichim Carridin] purchased the plans to [Tarasin Palace]. [Madic|madic] moves [Olver] to [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]'s rooms. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] manages two more nights without [Tylin|Tylin Quintara]. The next morning, the day of the [Festival of Birds|../main/calendar], the dice in his head are rolling again.
