Scene 3 - Blood Calls Blood (Start: 0:01:05) [Ishamael] enters a cavern in the [Cairhien|Cairhien (Country)] countryside with a [seal] overhead. He chants in the [Old Tongue] and [channel]s, breaking the seal. Debris falls, revealing a crouching figure. Ishamael chants, "Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is. Blood was and blood shall ever be," and the figure begins to stand[1]. ! Scene 5 - It's Been Decades (Start: 0:03:27) [Anvaere][2] rises from her bed in her home in [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)], dresses, and applies makeup. She rings a bell, summoning a servant who assists with her dressing. She then rests on a couch. Her butler, [Jhonas], enters and announces that her older sister has arrived. In another room, [Jhonas] brings [Moiraine|Moiraine (Show)] to [Anvaere]. After a brief greeting, [Moiraine] declines tea, stating she has stabled her horse, requests her old room if available, and asks to keep a low profile in the city. [Anvaere] begins to reply, but [Moiraine] interrupts, asking [Jhonas] for a bottle of [Ghealdanin|Ghealdan] red wine from the cellar and starting to order a dress. [Anvaere] interrupts, shouting that it’s been decades and insisting [Moiraine] sit for tea. [Moiraine] suggests lunch instead, as she has a meeting this morning, and then departs. ! Scene 6 - A Chance To Get Away (Start: 0:05:53) [Rand] cleans up debris from the burned-down inn[3] in [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)]. [Selene] takes responsibility for the fire, admitting she forgot to blow out the candles, and mentions she’s having the inn rebuilt, giving her time to stay at her family’s cabin near [Kinslayer's Dagger|Kinslayers Dagger]. She invites [Rand] to join her, but he declines, saying he’s not good company right now. [Selene] notes that the fire drove off the other tenants, leaving [Rand] the place to himself if he prefers solitude. ! Scene 7 - It Wasn't Real (Start: 0:07:12) [Nynaeve] lies in her bed in the [White Tower], recalling her experience in the [Three Arches]. A knock on the door interrupts her thoughts. She rises, placing her novice ring on her finger, and opens the door to find [Egwene] standing there. [Egwene] offers [Nynaeve] honeycakes, and they begin to talk. [Egwene] reaches for [Nynaeve]’s novice ring, but [Nynaeve] pulls her hand away. [Egwene] offers her friendship and hugs [Nynaeve], who hesitantly returns the embrace. [Egwene] reassures [Nynaeve] that her experience in the [Three Arches] was not real[4]. ! Scene 8 - Dinner With the Mosvanis (Start: 0:08:51) On the grounds of the Mosvani family hold in [Arafel], surrounded by olive trees and conical stone huts, a gathering is underway in a central clearing with [Alanna], [Maksim], [Ihvon], and [Lan] present. [Maksim] play-swordfights with children while [Lan] watches. [Alanna] helps others prepare a meal as the children clamor for [Maksim]. He suggests they play with [Ihvon], but [Ihvon] declines, saying he’ll join after eating. Everyone sits at wooden tables for dinner, and [Alanna] warns that she’ll set anyone on fire if they complain about the food. A family member remarks that it’s been a while since [Alanna] brought a new man home, suggesting she might be slowing down in her old age. ! Scene 9 - Not Looking to Repeat (Start: 0:10:14) After dinner, [Alanna] approaches [Lan] as he relieves himself against a tree near the Mosvani family hold in [Arafel]. [Lan] remarks that [Maksim] and [Ihvon] always check on him when he steps away, starting with a joke and sharing a warm memory to give him something to live for. [Alanna] interrupts, saying she’ll skip that approach, and notes that she doesn’t think [Lan] will kill himself because his bond with [Moiraine] was taken by her, not ripped away. She asks what he wants to do now, mentioning that she, [Maksim], and [Ihvon] are heading to the [White Tower] tomorrow, and invites him to join them. [Lan] says he doesn’t know. [Alanna] informs him that [Nynaeve] will go through the [Three Arches] tomorrow, the fastest anyone has done so since [Cadsuane], suggesting [Nynaeve] might soon need a [Warder]. [Lan] responds that he’s not looking to repeat his failures. [Alanna] wishes [Lan] had known [Moiraine] before she changed about twenty years ago, a year or two before their bonding[5]. ! Scene 10 - Memories of Childhood (Start: 0:12:28) [Moiraine] has returned to her own room in the Damodred house in [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)]. She’s going through the room, inspecting various items that evoke memories: a dollhouse, books, a ballerina box, and a box containing cigars, which she sniffs. She uncovers a mirror, pauses to smile at her reflection, and notices a picture of her and [Anvaere] as a child. She leaves her room and sees a bottle of [Ghealdanin|Ghealdan] red wine on a nearby table[6]. She sees her sister talking to her butler, grabs the bottle, and leaves the house. ! Scene 11 - What You Really Want (Start: 0:13:38) [Moiraine] visits the asylum in [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)] and asks [Celestin] about [Rand], noting he hasn’t shown up for work today despite coming every day. [Celestin] asks if [Rand] is in trouble but grants [Moiraine] access to see [Logain]. [Logain] recognizes [Moiraine], saying he should kill her, then assumes she wanted him here instead of the [White Tower]. [Moiraine] pours two glasses of [Ghealdanin|Ghealdan] red wine[6] and asks if [Logain] has started training [Rand], but he assumes she sent [Rand] and refuses to answer, knocking a glass from her hand. She offers [Logain] a knife[7], promising it if he helps her, and asks where [Rand] is staying; this time, [Logain] reveals [Rand] is staying at the [Crescent Inn] and has as much power as he did but fears and cannot control it. [Moiraine] instructs [Logain] to teach [Rand] everything about [channelling], promising the knife once she’s satisfied with [Rand]’s progress, then leaves. ! Scene 12 - Stop Trying (Start: 0:16:40) [Egwene] and [Elayne] mop floors in the [White Tower]. [Egwene] remarks that [Nynaeve] has been different since her test, which [Elayne] attributes to [Nynaeve]’s new status as an [Accepted]. [Egwene] disagrees, explaining that her attempts to help [Nynaeve] never seem right. [Elayne] advises [Egwene] to stop trying, noting she doesn’t know what [Nynaeve] experienced in the [Three Arches] and questioning why [Egwene] feels responsible for fixing it. [Egwene] shares that [Nynaeve] supported her through the loss of someone she loves ([Rand])[8], despite her own pain, and she wants to offer the same support, feeling she’s diminishing since arriving at the [White Tower]. ! Scene 13 - Sword Practice (Start: 0:17:46) [Nynaeve] walks through the [White Tower], passing novices who curtsy to her, until she reaches the [Warders]’ training ground where several are practicing. She looks for [Maksim] and [Ihvon] but doesn’t find them, and a [Young Warder] approaches, recognizing her as [Nynaeve]. In the background, [Liandrin] pauses to observe. The [Young Warder] explains that [Maksim] and [Ihvon] are away with [Alanna] but offers to train [Nynaeve]; she declines and starts to leave. He asks if she truly [channeled|channel] in the [Three Arches], expressing surprise that all the [Ajahs] aren’t following her around, and hopes she won’t choose the [Red Ajah], but [Nynaeve] departs without responding. [Liandrin], about to leave, receives a note from another [Red Ajah] sister and reads it. ! Scene 14 - You'll Fall With Her (Start: 0:18:52) [Leane] writes in a book in a room at the [White Tower] when [Liandrin] enters. [Liandrin] states the western shore is under attack[9] and accuses [Leane] of inaction. [Leane] responds that sisters have been sent to investigate but does not share the latest report when [Liandrin] asks. [Liandrin] questions when [Leane] last spoke to the [Amyrlin], and [Leane] explains that as [Keeper of the Chronicles], she rules the [Tower] in the [Amyrlin]’s absence. [Liandrin] departs, warning that if [Siuan] falls, [Leane] will fall with her. ! Scene 15 - Wolfbrother (Start: 0:20:07) A pack of wolves bounds down a forest path, followed by [Elyas], [Perrin], and another wolf. [Perrin] expresses concern that they haven’t seen signs of the caravan and need to find his friends, questioning if they’re going the right way, but [Elyas] assures him that wolves never get lost. When [Perrin] protests that [Elyas] is leading them, [Elyas] counters that he is one of the wolves, as is [Perrin], identifying them both as [Wolfbrothers|Wolf]. [Perrin] asks if all wolves are [Wolfbrothers|Wolf] and if he’ll turn into a wolf, but [Elyas] dismisses the idea as foolish. A vision of a deer floats through the trees, and [Elyas] explains it’s the wolves’ language—a scout found a buck and sent the vision to guide them, adding that [Perrin] will learn this instinctual communication. [Perrin] realizes the wolves informed [Elyas] about troops heading to [Falme], which is why [Elyas] slept outside town, and grows frustrated that [Elyas] didn’t help them escape, though [Elyas] points out that [Perrin] is free now due to their efforts. ! Scene 16 - Hopper (Start: 0:21:50) The wolves, having killed the deer, feast on it alongside [Elyas], who eats the meat raw, while [Perrin] cooks his share and sits with [Elyas] and the wolf that ran with them. [Elyas] remarks that the wolf likes [Perrin], and when [Perrin] asks its name, [Elyas] says the wolf will reveal it when ready. [Elyas] reveals that the wolves have been watching [Perrin] for a while, noting they saved him and “that girl” ([Egwene]) from the [Whitecloaks][10], and that [Perrin] has been sending messages to them for months. He adds that the wolf beside them lost its mate months ago and still mourns her, sharing that they see [Laila|Laila (Show)][11] in [Perrin]’s dreams. [Perrin] questions why the wolves didn’t approach him sooner, and [Elyas] explains their distrust of [Aes Sedai]. The wolf sends a vision of itself hopping, and [Perrin] realizes its name is [Hopper]. ! Scene 17 - Masked For The Last Six Months (Start: 0:24:14) Back at the Mosvani family hold in [Arafel], [Lan] is in his room, reading [Moiraine]’s poem[14]. He finishes and tucks it back into a pouch just as [Maksim] enters, asking [Lan] to help with fetching water. At the well, they’ve already pulled out ten buckets, and [Lan] asks how much water they need for bread. [Maksim] compliments [Lan], noting he’s doing well, and hints that the first few weeks after a bond breaks are the toughest. [Lan] counters that he’s had practice, as [Moiraine] has kept their bond masked for the last six months or so[12]. [Maksim] shares that he thought he was the only one who could go that long without a bond’s connection, recalling how miserable it was for everyone when [Alanna] first bonded him—he didn’t like the “audience,” and she didn’t like the “show.” They talked it through with [Ihvon], deciding to mask [Maksim]’s bond except during battle or in bed, an arrangement the [White Tower] is aware of. [Lan] asks if the [Tower] knows about this, and [Maksim] confirms they do. [Maksim] then asks [Lan] if he’s ever known a marriage to be exactly like another, offering himself as proof that [Lan] can go back to [Moiraine]. ! Scene 18 - Questions at the Gate (Start: 0:26:26) [Moiraine] walks through the [Foregate|Cairhien (City)], drawing stares from passersby as she moves with purpose. At the city gate, she approaches a gatekeeper, [Asan Sandair], and questions him about the [Crescent Inn] burning down. [Asan Sandair] claims to know nothing about the incident, remarking callously that it’s a shame more buildings didn’t burn. Moiraine then asks if he knows of a red-haired boy who was staying at the inn and his current whereabouts, but the gatekeeper shakes his head, offering no information[13]. Frustrated but undeterred, Moiraine continues into the city. ! Scene 19 - If You Want Something, You Have To Take It (Start: 0:27:26) [Rand] and [Selene] stand on a scenic overlook near [Kinslayer's Dagger|Kinslayers Dagger], gazing at the rugged mountain landscape. [Rand] asks if her family built the cabin nearby, but [Selene] admits she was lying—she never came here as a child, though she did visit with a man, the one before [Rand]. [Rand] reminds her of their pact not to discuss their pasts, but [Selene] continues, revealing that the man was the first and only one she ever loved. She shares that they would escape here often, finding peace away from a world that pulled them in every direction. [Rand] reflects on his own upbringing in a similar remote place, where his friends dreamed of cities and travel, but he never did. He admits that up here, the world feels whole, not broken. [Selene] asks if he’d want to return to that life, but [Rand] replies that the [Wheel|Wheel of Time] never gives anyone what they want, least of all him. [Selene] counters that nothing and no one ever hands you what you want—if you want something, you have to take it. ! Scene 20 - The Attic (Start: 0:30:10) [Mat] and [Min] are playing dice in a bustling inn, the air filled with the clatter of cups and laughter. [Mat] loses the next roll and, with a grin, calls to the bartender for another drink. [Min], holding a small pile of coins she’s won, teases him about how he’ll pay for it since she has all his money. [Mat] retorts confidently that she can’t win all night. He suggests [Min] get them a room since she’s “rolling in the money,” and she agrees to buy another round of drinks and secure two rooms. [Min] heads to the bar, tossing down coins for [Mat]’s drinks and a room—specifically requesting the attic. She mentions there should be someone waiting for her there and asks the bartender if they’ve arrived. The bartender shakes their head, saying no, and asks who she’s meeting. [Min] admits she isn’t entirely sure but instructs the bartender to send them up when they get there. ! Scene 21 - My Daughter, My Son (Start: 0:31:22) [Liandrin] passes the [Three Arches] room in the [White Tower], sees [Nynaeve] inside, and enters. She mentions most [Aes Sedai] avoid the room after their tests. [Nynaeve] asks if the experience was real; [Liandrin] says the pain was real but fades. [Nynaeve] reveals she lost a daughter inside, and [Liandrin] expresses sorrow. [Liandrin] shares she hid her son for 80 or 90 years to protect him, admitting she kept him close despite safer options. She explains [Aes Sedai] are cursed to watch loved ones age and die, advising [Nynaeve] to hold onto a piece of the world and replace it when lost. [Liandrin] confides that [Shienaran|Shienar] soldiers, [Perrin], and [Loial] were captured on the west coast[14], asking [Nynaeve] not to act rashly. ! Scene 22 - They Are Not Gods (Start: 0:35:24) [Maksim], [Ihvon], and [Lan] are meditating at the Mosvani family hold in [Arafel], sitting in a quiet circle under the night sky. [Maksim] looks visibly impatient, shifting restlessly, and after a short while, he gives up, stands, puts on his shoes, and leaves. [Lan] remarks dryly that [Maksim] lasted ten minutes this time. [Ihvon], still calm, reflects that people often misunderstand the quiet ones—they’re quiet because the conversation is always playing out in their own heads. [Lan] opens up, sharing that [Moiraine] once told him she never considered him an equal[15]. [Ihvon] responds that of course they aren’t equals, nor are they meant to be, explaining that [Aes Sedai] wield immense power, and the world sees their strengths, but [Warders] see their weaknesses and remind them they are not gods. [Lan] jokes that he didn’t think [Alanna] needed such a reminder, to which [Ihvon] replies that she knows they all share the same goal: the triumph of the Light over the Dark—and dessert after. [Ihvon] then asks [Lan] what [Moiraine] truly wants, and [Lan] admits that might be the problem—he doesn’t think he knows anymore. ! Scene 23 - A Troubling Poem (Start: 0:38:10) [Maksim] leads [Alanna] into [Lan]’s room in the [White Tower]. He shows her a pouch containing a poem that [Lan] took from [Moiraine]. [Alanna] removes the poem, reads it, and appears concerned[16]. ! Scene 24 - Ask Me Very Nicely (Start: 0:38:42) [Moiraine] returns to the Damodred house in [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)], hesitates outside [Anvaere]’s room where a fire burns, and enters her own room to find [Anvaere] waiting. [Anvaere] insists they talk, recalling their family’s ruin after their uncle’s actions[17] and [Moiraine]’s departure. She describes rebuilding House Damodred’s status, including her son’s betrothal to the queen, and claims [Moiraine]’s former allies now report to her. [Moiraine] praises [Anvaere]’s success, but [Anvaere] rejects her approval and demands [Moiraine] ask politely over tea for information about the red-haired boy[18]. ! Scene 25 - Friends In Trouble (Start: 0:41:50) [Egwene] and [Elayne] share a drink in [Elayne]’s room at the [White Tower] when [Nynaeve] enters, asking for a private moment with [Egwene]. [Elayne] leaves after [Nynaeve] insists. [Nynaeve] informs [Egwene] that [Perrin] and [Loial] have been captured and she’s heading to [Falme] to free them. [Egwene] points out [Falme]’s distance, and [Nynaeve] warns that as an [Accepted], she can leave, but [Egwene], a novice, risks expulsion if caught. [Egwene] insists on joining because her friends are in danger, explaining she’s training at the [White Tower] to avoid feeling helpless in such situations. [Nynaeve] leads her through caverns beneath the [White Tower] to escape, but they notice [Elayne] has followed them. [Liandrin] approaches, and [Nynaeve] takes responsibility for the group. [Liandrin] calls [Elayne] a complication, then weaves [Air] to knock all three against a wall, rendering them unconscious[19]. ! Scene 26 - Take Away Your Curse (Start: 0:44:48) [Min] is asleep in her attic room at the inn when her consciousness shifts into [Tel’aran’rhiod|TelAranRhiod], where she finds herself in her childhood home. She’s awakened in the dream by her two aunts, who call out to her to get out of bed and go to work. They lead her to a table with several lit candles on it and make her sit down. A young woman sits across from [Min] and asks, “Will we be happy together?” [Min] sees a [vision|Viewings] of the woman’s death, a grim image that unsettles her. Next, a young girl takes the seat and asks, “What will I be when I grow older?” Again, [Min] sees a vision of the girl’s death, leaving her shaken. The voices around her grow loud, then fall silent. [Ishamael] speaks, telling her to open her eyes and asking what she sees. [Min] looks at him and realizes she sees no visions around him—her curse doesn’t affect him. [Ishamael] comments that it must be a relief to see nothing, to no longer feel like a carnival attraction. [Min] asks his name, and he says he has many in this [Age|Wheel of Time]: Father of Lies, Betrayer of Hope, [Forsaken]. [Min] starts to object, saying, “[Liandrin] didn’t tell…” but [Ishamael] interrupts, noting that [Liandrin] promised to take away her visions[20]. He asks if she really thinks an [Aes Sedai] could do that, adding that for some things, the Dark is the only place to turn. [Min] says the deal is off and tries to stand, but [Ishamael] gestures, forcing her back into the chair. She insists she won’t help him hurt anyone, but [Ishamael] says she will. She firmly states she won’t help him hurt [Mat]. [Ishamael] replies that she might, explaining that she came here for instructions on where to take [Mat] next. He offers to remove her curse, but only if she brings [Mat] to [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)]. ! Scene 27 - Outside A Cabin (Start: 0:47:00) It’s nighttime in [Kinslayer’s Dagger|Kinslayers Dagger], and [Rand] and [Selene] are sleeping outside on a bed of branches near a smoldering campfire. [Rand] wakes up, possibly hearing a sound, and looks around. He notices the campfire nearby and a cabin a short distance away. He stands, gripping his sword, and starts walking toward the cabin. A [Fade] steps out from the shadow of a boulder and moves toward [Rand], raising its arms to attack. [Selene] wakes up, sees the [Fade], and calls out to [Rand]. [Rand] turns and engages the [Fade] in a swordfight. The [Fade] disarms [Rand], forcing him to back up to shield [Selene]. [Rand] then [channel]s, unleashing a burst of power that destroys the [Fade]. [Selene] steps away from [Rand], asking what he just did. [Rand] starts to apologize, but [Selene] asks if he just [channel]ed. She then asks about the fire at her inn, and [Rand] admits it was an accident[21]. He insists that he hasn’t gone mad. [Selene] looks shocked. [Rand] says he understands her reaction, thanks her for everything, and begins to walk away. [Selene] asks where he’ll go, and [Rand] replies that when men go mad, they kill the people they love first, so he’ll go as far away as he can. [Selene] pauses, realizing [Rand] just admitted he loves her, and asks why he didn’t tell her he could [channel]. [Rand] says he didn’t want her to see him as a monster. [Selene] approaches him and says he’s not a monster, explaining that what he did is part of his nature and he shouldn’t hide it. She admits she once hid her true self, being what someone wanted to see, but that man looked deeper and saw who she really was. She tells [Rand] he needs to give someone the chance to love all of him. [Rand] says he doesn’t know how much time he has before he goes mad, and [Selene] replies that it’s the same for everyone: never enough. She takes his hand, and they walk toward the cabin together. !
