[Sulin] and [Min|Min Farshaw] stay with [Rand|Rand alThor] while he spends most of the day in bed resting. [Rand|Rand alThor] finds the flute [Thom|Thom Merrilin] gave him in his wardrobe and plays a bit. [Amys], [Bair], [Sorilea], [Colinda] and a bunch of other [Wise Ones|Aiel] come in to check on his health. [Nandera] sent word to them. [Melaine] told [Amys] and [Bair] about [Min|Min Farshaw], so all the [Wise Ones|Aiel] want to question her. After the [Wise Ones|Aiel] leave, [Min|Min Farshaw] starts to tell [Rand|Rand alThor] of a [viewing|viewings] of [Colinda]:

* "I saw - No. No, it doesn't have anything to do with you. Maybe the heat is affecting me. When I know, I ''always'' know. It must be the heat."

[Rand|Rand alThor] receives a polite letter from [Coiren|Coiren Saeldain] requesting an audience. He sends a polite refusal. He also asks for [Gawyn|Gawyn Trakand] to visit, but he never comes. On the second day [Somara] announces [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag]. [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] and [Min|Min Farshaw] eye each other and smile fiercely. [Lews Therin|Lews Therin Telamon] hums when [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] makes a low curtsy. [Rand|Rand alThor] asks her why she hid in her rooms after he was last in [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)]. [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] looks embarrassed, but never really answers.[1] She asks who he intends for the [Sun Throne|Sun Palace] and he tells her it is for [Elayne|Elayne Trakand]. [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] thinks she is a good choice. After [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] leaves, [Min|Min Farshaw] reports that she had a [viewing|viewings]:

* "Just a man in white who will make her fall head over heels."

That afternoon, [Min|Min Farshaw] orders and begins wearing more feminine clothes. Two days later [Coiren|Coiren Saeldain] sends another request and three days later a third, but [Rand|Rand alThor] declines. He can feel that [Alanna|Alanna Mosvani] is on her way and wants to keep his word that [Coiren|Coiren Saeldain] and [Merana|Merana Ambrey] will be on equal footing. [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Min|Min Farshaw] go to the [School of Cairhien] to visit [Idrien Tarsin] and [Herid Fel], but [Herid|Herid Fel] is too distracted by [Min|Min Farshaw] to be of much use. The next day [Herid|Herid Fel] sends [Rand|Rand alThor] a note:

* "Belief and order give strength. Have to clear rubble before you can build."

Then [Herid|Herid Fel] leaves to go fishing. [Min|Min Farshaw] spends a lot of time with the [Wise Ones|Aiel], but [Rand|Rand alThor] wants her around to [view|viewings] the nobles. The nobles all wear cheesy smiles except [Dobraine|Dobraine Taborwin]. He wants no one to know how important she is to him, as that will make her a target for the [Forsaken] or [Padan Fain]. [Min|Min Farshaw] has [viewings] of several nobles:

* [Maringil] was going to die by poison.
* [Colavaere|Colavaere Saighan] would die by hanging.
* [Meilan|Meilan Mendiana] would die by the knife.
* [Aracome] and [Maraconn] and [Gueyam] were all going to die, too, bloody deaths, in battle, [Min|Min Farshaw] thought.

[Rand|Rand alThor] practices sword fighting and also hand-to-hand fighting with [Rhuarc] and [Gaul]. [Loial] spends a lot of time in the [Royal Library|Cairhien Royal Library]. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] visits, but looks tired.[2] [Min|Min Farshaw] reads ''Essays on Reason'' by [Daria Gahand]. [Rand|Rand alThor] meets with [Rhuarc] every day. He reports that [Sevanna] was there, but she left the day after [Rand|Rand alThor] arrived. [Rhuarc] seems angry with [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] and she seems embarrassed by it.[3] [Selande|Selande Darengil] is active as one of the young nobles acting as [Aiel]. In all, ten days pass in [Cairhien|Cairhien (Country)].

[Perrin|Perrin Aybara] has a very difficult time those ten days. [Berelain|Berelain sur Paendrag] stalks him and [Faile|Zarine Bashere] is intensely jealous. [Wil al'Seen] is the only man [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] has seen women chase after. [Loial] spends every waking moment in the [Royal Library|Cairhien Royal Library]. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] likes the library, but there is a slender, dark-haired [Aes Sedai] there who seldom blinks.[4] [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] tries to get away by going hunting with [Gaul] or [Rhuarc]. [Colavaere|Colavaere Saighan], [Meilan|Meilan Mendiana] and [Maringil] question him about [Rand|Rand alThor]. He overhears [Bain] and [Chiad] discussing whether they should help [Faile|Zarine Bashere] beat him. [Perrin|Perrin Aybara] does not know what to do to solve his problem.

On his tenth day back, [Rand|Rand alThor] receives a fourth request from [Coiren|Coiren Saeldain]. From the feel of [Alanna|Alanna Mosvani]'s bond, [Rand|Rand alThor] thinks [Merana|Merana Ambrey] is about half way to [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)] and so will be there in ten more days. [Rand|Rand alThor] writes back to [Coiren|Coiren Saeldain] telling her she can bring two other [Aes Sedai] the next afternoon. [Lews Therin|Lews Therin Telamon] mutters about killing [Sammael] and [Demandred].

[#1] This is the same odd behavior of [LoC,Ch27] and [LoC,Ch28] and is never explained. Was it because the [Aes Sedai] were badgering her and possibly got through to her?
