! __Moiraine__ POV

Early the next morning a [novice|novices] named [Setsuko] summons [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] to the West Stable for another day of census. [Setsuko] is weak and has talked of running away until she was sent to %%blue [Merean|Merean Redhill]%%, but [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] knows she would certainly be caught.[1] [Setsuko] then goes to wake [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar]. [Lisandre] is the [novice|novices] sent to wake [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred]. As the [Accepted] hurry to breakfast, [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar] tells [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] that the [Aiel] really are retreating. She heard it from three different sisters, %%brown [Serafelle]%%, %%yellow [Ryma|Ryma Galfrey]%% and %%gray [Jennet|Jennet (Aes Sedai)]%%. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] are excited that they might now be sent near [Dragonmount]. 

Before they leave their quarters %%blue [Merean|Merean Redhill]%% arrives and tells [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] that she is to remain behind because of her uncles' deaths. She argued with %%amyrlin [Tamra|Tamra Ospenya]%% about sending sisters out instead of [Accepted]. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred]'s job will be to recopy the lists of names. To [Siuan|Siuan Sanche]'s dismay, [Merean|Merean Redhill] assigns her to keep [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] company. After [Merean|Merean Redhill] leaves, [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] tells [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] about her uncles. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] replies that she has six uncles who were good men, one died saving others,[2] and two who were scoundrels. 

After breakfast, all the other [Accepted] including [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar] and [Katerine|Katerine Alruddin] hurry off. One of the cooks, [Laras], frowns at them till they leave as well. At their work in the anteroom to the [Amyrlin|Aes Sedai]'s study, [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] is amazed at the number of names despite [Meilyn|Meilyn Arganya]'s explanation. [Myrelle|Myrelle Berengari] wrote down the sad story of [Salia Pomfrey]. During the afternoon [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan] makes an appearance to examine their work. They watch for births that happened after [Gitara|Gitara Moroso]'s [Foretelling|Weaves]. The next day [Tamra|Tamra Ospenya] sends two clerks, [Martan] and Mistress [Wellin], to take over the task, but [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] ask and are allowed to continue. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] weaves [Air|One Power], [Water|One Power] and [Earth|One Power] to remove an ink stain from her dress. 

When [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] finds from [Ellid|Ellid Abareim]'s notes that [Willa Mandair] gave birth to [Bili Mandair] the day of the [Foretelling|Weaves] in Lord [Ellisar]'s camp west of the river, she writes this down on a separate page. She and [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] continue to compile a short list of the most promising candidates. 

Midmorning %%gray [Jarna Malari]%%, a [Sitter|Sitters] for the [Gray|Gray Ajah], summons [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] for a walk. She asks [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred]'s opinion on the [Sun Throne|Sun Palace].[3] Most of House [Damodred|Cairhien (Country)] is of dark character. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred]'s half-brother [Taringail|Taringail Damodred] is already married to the Queen of [Andor]. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] comments that her older sisters, [Anvaere|Anvaere Damodred] and [Innloine|Innloine Damodred], would not be suitable. Six other [Sitters], one from each [Ajah|Aes Sedai] including %%red [Tsutama Rath]%% of the [Red|Red Ajah], come by later with the same discussion. [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] knows exactly what they want, her as Queen of [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)]. She thinks the only way out is to test for the shawl as soon as possible, then flee.

Was this an oversight by Jordan or did he rise from obscurity over the intervening years? [Barthanes|Barthanes Damodred]' relationship to [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] is never made clear.
