[Egwene|Egwene alVere] still nervously thinks about the [Black Ajah]. In a deep chamber, they find [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] lying unconscious on a platform. He has the [ruby dagger|Ruby Dagger]. Nine [Aes Sedai] stand around him. They are [Siuan|Siuan Sanche], [Leane|Leane Sharif], [Verin|Verin Mathwin], [Serafelle], [Alanna|Alanna Mosvani], [Anaiya], [Brendas] of the [White Ajah] and two others.[1]  [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar] joins them making ten. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] has a [white fluted wand], a powerful %%ot [sa'angreal|Angreal]%%. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] leads the circle. As the glow of %%ot [saidar|Said]%% surrounds them, [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] notes that she could only [channel|True Source] half as much.[2] As they [channel|True Source], the [ruby dagger|Ruby Dagger] in its golden sheath starts to rise and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] wakes. He shouts in the [Old Tongue], "

When the [Ruby Dagger] is separated from [Mat|Matrim Cauthon], [Anaiya] grasps it with tongs and puts it in a heavy metal box. The box closes and [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] collapses. Many of the [Aes Sedai] are clearly wrung out from what they have done. [Siuan|Siuan Sanche] tells the girls that [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] was ordering soldiers in a battle over two thousand years ago.[4] The last phrase was, "I am a free man, [Aes Sedai]. I am no [Aes Sedai] meat." [Sheriam|Sheriam Bayanar] leads the girls away to begin their kitchen duties.

[#2] It seems most unlikely that [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara], strong as she is, could come close to ten [Aes Sedai] with a %%ot [sa'angreal|Angreal]%% so this is probably an error in judgment on her part.\\
