Back at the mansion, [Rand|Rand alThor] and [Min|Min Farshaw] respond to [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara]'s urgent summons. [Kerb|kerb] is tied up in [Air|One Power]. [Rand|Rand alThor] is annoyed until [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] tells him the story. [Kerb|kerb] was poisoning [Milisair|milisair] and poisoned the messenger as well. There is a block on his mind. [Rand|Rand alThor] says it is [Graendal]'s [Compulsion|Weaves#co] and [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] shivers as she remembers [Moghedien]. [Rand|Rand alThor] questions the boy and imposes his will, but the boy cannot speak. [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara]'s tea is suddenly spoiled and bitter. [Rand|Rand alThor] coaches [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] on removing the [Compulsion|Weaves#co]. She does not want to, but no one else there, even [Corele|../../characters/c/corele_hovian], could do it. After she is finished, [Kerb|kerb] is a bare shell of a mind. [Rand|Rand alThor] questions him again and he whispers, "[Natrin's Barrow|Arad Doman]" then dies. [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] is angry that he could not be [Healed|Weaves]. [Rand|Rand alThor] is heartless. She tells [Rand|Rand alThor] that his anger will destroy him and he agrees, shocking her. He tells her a story from [Tam|Tam alThor], that no one has ever climbed [Dragonmount] because, after reaching the top, they would be too exhausted to climb down and so die up there.[1] [Rand|Rand alThor] only has to reach the [Last Battle|Creator]. He will die then so there does not need to be anything left of him to salvage. He can accept [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] because she truly cares about him, unlike [Cadsuane|Cadsuane Melaidhrin]. [Min|Min Farshaw] has fallen asleep so he carries her back to his rooms. He tells [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] that he will deal with the [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)] first, then [Graendal].

[#1] This is a nice story, but in "reality" [Dragonmount] is probably more than four miles high so that the air is too thin to support normal human life for long. [Rand|Rand alThor] experiences this in [TGS,Ch50].
