He wears the new sword which also reminds him of [Falme].[1] He is accompanied by [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara], three [Wise Ones|Aiel], [Corele|Corele Hovian], [Narishma|Jahar Narishma] and [Flinn|Damer Flinn]. [Min|Min Farshaw] stayed behind.[2] He has the [access key|Control Statues] so he is not worried about an attack. [Rand|Rand alThor] tells [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] that he killed a man, a blademaster, for the first time here.[3] [Verin|Verin Mathwin] told him not to channel. She says he earned the heron mark, but [Rand|Rand alThor] says there were no witnesses. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] and [Hurin] were fighting elsewhere. When [Rand|Rand alThor] seizes %%ot [saidin|Said]%% [Lews Therin|Lews Therin Telamon] struggles for control. The day before [Rand|Rand alThor] woke crying for [Ilyena|Ilyena Therin Moerelle]. His eyesight is slowly getting better. They approach the pavilion where the [Daughter of the Nine Moons|Tuon] waits.

That makes her nervous despite her time with [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. In [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)], [Asha'man] are known as %%ot [Tsorov'ande Doon|Old Tongue]%%, Black-Souled Tempests. [Karede|Furyk Karede] and the [Deathwatch Guard|Seanchan (People)] grow tense as they approach. She gestures to [Selucia] to tell them to stay calm. Captain [Musenge] has archers on a nearby rooftop. She has not declared herself Empress so she can meet with the [Dragon Reborn|Rand alThor] as a near equal. [Malai] had a [Foretelling|Weaves] of no rain, yet there is lightning in the sky. [Rand|Rand alThor] sits and demands peace. The [Last Battle|Creator] is coming and all forces will be needed against the [Shadow|Creator]. In [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag]'s mind, the battle will be between the Empire and the Shadow with the [Dragon Reborn|Rand alThor] as a tool against [Lighteater|ShaiTan]. She is surprised that he is not blinded yet.[4] Recalling [Tylee|Tylee Khirgan]'s report on the [Trollocs], she thinks [Rand|Rand alThor] may be right about the [Last Battle|Creator] being close. She wonders if he blames her for the loss of his hand as [Falendre] described. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] suggests unity by having [Rand|Rand alThor]'s people take the oaths, but [Rand|Rand alThor] cuts her off saying he will not let anyone be leashed. She tries to catch him off guard by bringing up [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. [Rand|Rand alThor] remembers seeing her with him in his visions but [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] thinks this must be the madness. She asks what [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] is really like; he seemed a bit of a scoundrel. One of the %%ot [marath'damane|Seanchan (People)]%% then angrily defends him. [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] is impressed at the loyalty they show to [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. [Rand|Rand alThor] leans forward and exerts all his will on her. A dark halo surrounds him.[5] Suddenly, she is willing to give him anything he wants but she fights it off and refuses peace. She cannot ally with such a monster. He stands and leaves. After she recovers her composure, she stands and announces that she is now the Empress. As celebration begins, she quietly tells General [Galgan|Lunal Galgan] to tell General [Yulan|Abaldar Yulan] to prepare his strike against the [White Tower] immediately.
