After the %%ot [gholam|Gholam]%% attack [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] spends the night under [Aludra]'s supply wagon. He starts to look for [Lopin] then remembers that he is dead. [Juilin|Juilin Sandar] finds him. He wants to take [Thera|Amathera Aelfdene Casmir Lounault] to [Tar Valon] with the [Aes Sedai]. He would prefer his home in [Tear|Tear (Country)] but the [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)] are too close. 

[Mat|Matrim Cauthon] goes to the picket line where %%red [Teslyn|Teslyn Baradon]%%, %%green [Joline|Joline Maza]%% and %%yellow [Edesina|Edesina Azzedin]%% are preparing to leave. They need horses and supplies from [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] because [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] turned them away from the palace. [Joline|Joline Maza] rides [Moonglow]. [Edesina|Edesina Azzedin] rides [Firewisp]. [Bethamin|Bethamin Zeami] and [Seta|Seta Zarbey] will go with them. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] reminds them that [Tuon|Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag] is also a %%ot [sul'dam|Seanchan (People)]%%. 

[Mat|Matrim Cauthon] thinks of [Rand|Rand alThor] learning to channel and sees an image of him shaving in a fine bath chamber.[1] [Thom|Thom Merrilin] arrives. [Egeanin|Egeanin Tamarath] and [Bayle Domon] ride up. They will go to [Tar Valon] as well. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] sends some soldiers with them led by [Vanin|Chel Vanin] to bring back his horses after the trip. He also gives [Joline|Joline Maza] a basket of sweetbuns. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] sends a message with them to the [Amyrlin|Aes Sedai], [Egwene|Egwene alVere] or [Elaida|Elaida do Avriny aRoihan],[2] that he will come to claim what is his.[3] [Setalle Anan] will be staying with [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]. 

After they leave, [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] confides to [Thom|Thom Merrilin] that the sweetbuns contain [sprinklewort|Herbs] that will turn [Joline|Joline Maza]'s mouth blue. They go to talk to [Setalle|Setalle Anan]. She is overseeing some of the meal preparation while the cook [Noram] is in [Caemlyn] shopping for provisions. He asks her to look after [Olver] while he and [Thom|Thom Merrilin] are gone. She agrees and he promises to find someone to make a gateway so she can return to [Ebou Dar] and find her family.

! __Elayne__ POV

[Elayne|Elayne Trakand] is in the [Sunrise Garden|Royal Palace] with [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion]. [Birgitte|Birgitte Trahelion] chides her for being out in the open where someone could assassinate her but [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] is convinced that she is safe because of [Min|Min Farshaw]'s [viewing|viewings] that her babies will be born healthy.[4] [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] says she feels bad for %%green [Vandene|Vandene Namelle]%%, %%brown [Sareitha|Sareitha Tomares]%% and the men who died rescuing her. There was no way they could anticipate %%black [Chesmal|Chesmal Emry]'s%% arrival. 

[Sumeko|Sumeko Karistovan] and [Alise|Alise Tenjile] arrive. No more of the [Kin] have mysteriously disappeared since %%black [Careane|Careane Fransi]%% was killed. They say that the [Kin] are now doing well. They cannot return to [Ebou Dar] but [Sumeko|Sumeko Karistovan] says they will go to [Tar Valon] as [Nynaeve|Nynaeve alMeara] and [Egwene|Egwene alVere] promised. [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] says the ones who want to become [Aes Sedai] can go but the rest of the [Kin] may remain in [Caemlyn]. [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] says she will support them if they agree to provide [Traveling|Weaves#t] and [Healing|Weaves#h]. The [Kin] will receive half the charge for [Traveling|Weaves#t] but [Healing|Weaves#h] will be free. [Andor] has the favor of the [White Tower] and the [Dragon Reborn|Rand alThor] so it is the best place for them. They reach a tentative agreement and the [Kin] leave. [Elayne|Elayne Trakand] worries what will happen when the [Seanchan|Seanchan (People)] eventually come for [Andor]. She must plan how to protect her nation, especially if [Rand|Rand alThor] dies. She thinks she may have to ally with the [Black Tower].
