Ishamael enters a cavern in the Cairhien countryside with a seal overhead. He chants in the Old Tongue and channels, breaking the seal. Debris falls, revealing a crouching figure. Ishamael chants, "Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is. Blood was and blood shall ever be," and the figure begins to stand[1].
Anvaere rises from her bed, dresses and puts on makeup. She rings a bell, which brings a servant who helps her dress. Afterwards, she relaxes on a nearby couch. A butler, Jhonas, enters and announces that her older sister is at the door.
She moves to another room and the butler bring in Moiraine. After brief greetings, Moiraine says she has no time for tea, has already stabled her horse and would like her old room back, if it's open. But she wants to keep a low profile in the city. Anvaere starts to respond, but Moiraine turns to Jhonas and tells him to bring a bottle of Ghealdenin red wine from the cellar and starts to order a dress when Anvaere interrupts, yelling that it's been decades and for her to sit and have some tea. Moiraine instead offers the possibility of lunch together because there's someone she needs to meet this morning and then leaves.
