Akein is a razor, a black and white breed owned almost exclusively by Domani nobility. She has very fine lines. (KoD,Ch6)

- Mat buys a razor from Toke Fearnim in Jurador. The mare is even finer than Pips. (KoD,Ch6)
- Mat gives the razor to Tuon and they go riding. She names the horse Akein, Swallow in the Old Tongue. (KoD,Ch8)
- Selucia accompanies Mat and Tuon on her new horse, Rosebud, when they ride Pips and Akein. (KoD,Ch10)
- Tuon rides Akein and Selucia rides Rosebud to the camp of the Band of the Red Hand. (KoD,Ch26)
- Mat rides Pips, Tuon rides Akein and Selucia rides Rosebud and Mat prepares for another encounter with the Seanchan (People) army. (KoD,Ch27)
