golden embroidered herons on the collar, shoulder and sleeves (like the cover art on [A Memory of Light]). [Selene] mentions that they've got the nobles curious about them. Lady [Duhlaine] even invited them to dinner next week. They are playing [Daes Dae'mar|Compleat], trying to find a way to use [Rand] against each other. [Rand] asks about the [Ghealdanin|Ghealdan] wine and [Selene] sets out to find a bottle. In the meantime Lady [Anvaere] approaches [Rand] and warns him of accepting any invitation from Lady [Duhlaine] because there will be strings attached. [Anvaere] asks if he will accept or not and [Rand] throws the invitation into a nearby fire. She looks [Rand] over and surmises that he's staying in the [Foregate]. She mentions how barbaric it must seem to be celebrating like this, but those poor people starve and their only hope is some ridiculous [Hunt for the Horn]. [Rand] says the Queen's reward sounds worth the risk, but she responds that there is no reward and may not even be a [Horn]. The Queen just wants her city back. After the [Aiel War], refugees in the countryside came to the city for safety, resulting in overcrowding in the [Foregate]. The Queen just can't kick people out, because there would be a revolt, so you give them a reason to leave, like the [Hunt for the Horn]. They might die on the Hunt, but that would just be one less poor mouth for the rich to feed.

[Selene] returns and Lady [Anvaere] introduces herself and tries to get [Selene] to introduce herself, but [Selene] declines and leads [Rand] away. She shows [Rand] the bottle of [Ghealdanin|Ghealdan] wine that she found. [Rand] recounts what Lady [Anvaere] told him about the Hunt, and [Selene] responds that of course there isn't a reward because everything anyone does or says in this city is part of some scheme or ploy. [Rand] then asks [Selene] why she is helping him, and she responds that he shouldn't ask questions that he already knows the answer to. With that, [Rand] says he has to go, taking the bottle of wine with him and leaving [Selene] there.
