Egwene awakens from a series of dreams:
Siuan is waking her despite Halima's protests. Halima now stays in Egwene's tent; Chesa, Meri and Selame share a tent nearby. Egwene is glad Delana can spare Halima; Nisao's Healing does not help her headaches at all. Siuan takes Egwene to Bryne.
It is snowing; from Elayne's report Egwene passed on only that the Bowl of the Winds had been used. Egwene is vexed that Siuan never told her about the Kin. Leane guards the tent while Bryne reports an army of Andorans and Murandians to the north led by Pelivar and Arathelle. They are near the Armahn River. Egwene tells Bryne to arrange a meeting with them. Bryne's army is now thirty thousand. Egwene asks how long the army will have to rest before laying siege to Tar Valon. Bryne asks for a minimum of ten days, preferably a month. He tells her that Elaida has increased the Tower Guard to fifty thousand. Egwene tells Siuan that she plans to do away with the Three Oaths. Siuan is shocked despite that fact that she has lied about Logain and the Red Ajah. She lectures Egwene on the value of the Three Oaths.[2]
Egwene finally realizes that Siuan is in love with Bryne. She tells Siuan to send Beonin, Anaiya and Myrelle north.[3] They have five Warders between them.[4] Siuan will also tell Sheriam, Carlinya, Morvrin and Nisao prepare for the morning.[5] Egwene hopes she will be successful as Amyrlin like Myriam Copan, Gerra Kishar and Sereille Bagand and not a failure like Shein Chunla. She heads back to her tent.
