[Egwene] reaches for [Nynaeve]’s novice ring, but [Nynaeve] pulls her hand away. [Egwene] offers her friendship and hugs [Nynaeve], who hesitantly returns the embrace. [Egwene] reassures [Nynaeve] that her experience in the [Three Arches] was not real[4].
[Nynaeve] is in her bed remembering what happened during her time in the [Three Arches] when there's a knock on the door.
[Nynaeve] opens the door, putting on her novice ring on the way there and finds [Egwene] standing there.
[Egwene] hands her some honeycakes. They start talking and [Egwene] starts to touch the ring but [Nynaeve] jerks her hand away.
[Egwene] offers her friendship and hugs [Nynaeve] who slowly hugs her back.
[Egwene] tries to reassure her that the experience wasn't real.

He suggests they play with [Ihvon], but [Ihvon] declines, saying he’ll join after eating. Everyone sits at wooden tables for dinner, and [Alanna] warns that she’ll set anyone on fire if they complain about the food. A family member remarks that it’s been a while since [Alanna] brought a new man home, suggesting she might be slowing down in her old age.

[Alanna] informs him that [Nynaeve] will go through the [Three Arches] tomorrow, the fastest anyone has done so since [Cadsuane], suggesting [Nynaeve] might soon need a [Warder]. [Lan] responds that he’s not looking to repeat his failures. [Alanna] wishes [Lan] had known [Moiraine] before she changed about twenty years ago, a year or two before their bonding[5].
