[Moiraine] won't tell her how they arrived in such a disheveled state, but [Anvaere] helps her clean up. She also says, that knowing [Moiraine] her whole life, she can tell that [Moiraine] has no idea what to do next. [Moiraine] says that [Rand] needs protection, but she's not sure that she can give it to him, and even worse is if she makes the wrong choice, then [Anvaere], [Barthanes] and all of [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)] may be caught in the crossfire. [Anvaere] recalls a time when she was a child, that her older sister said that if something is upsetting you, or making you afraid, then ask yourself one question: is it true? [Anvaere] then asks [Moiraine] if she's positive that [Rand] needs her protection.
