[Rand|Rand alThor] looks for [Melanril|Melanril Asegora] and his troops. He appointed [Melanril|Melanril Asegora] to lead the [Tairens|Tear (Country)] and [Cairhienin|Cairhien (Country)] after he sent [Weiramon|Weiramon Saniago] back to [Tear|Tear (Country)]. Suddenly, lightning strikes among the [Maidens|Maidens of the Spear] around the tower and [Rand|Rand alThor] can feel %%ot [saidin|Said]%%. At first he thinks it is [Asmodean]. The lightning marches to the tower and the tower falls. [Rand|Rand alThor] grabs both [Egwene|Egwene alVere] and [Aviendha] before he lands and passes out. He wakes with [Aviendha] staring in his face pleading with him not to die. The old wound in his side is bleeding. [Egwene|Egwene alVere] is bandaging [Sulin]'s head. Many [Maidens|Maidens of the Spear] including [Jolien|jolien] are dead. [Rand|Rand alThor] can feel the %%ot [saidin|Said]%% residue leading west and realizes that the attacker was [Sammael].[1] A young [Aiel] runs up and identifies himself as [Seirin|seirin] of the [Shorara|../organizations/aiel/shorara] [Tomanelle]. He brings news from [Han|han] that the four clans to the east are moving. It is not clear if they intend to aid or attack. [Han|han] will join [Dhearic|dhearic] and [Erim|erim]. [Rand|Rand alThor] sends for [Jeade'en|Jeadeen] so he can move closer to the city. [Aviendha] then orders [Mist|../creatures/horses/mist]. [Rand|Rand alThor] realizes the all the [Maidens|Maidens of the Spear] intent to accompany him, so he compromises, ordering the wounded to stay behind. [Sorilea] arrives with a dozen other [Wise Ones|Aiel] to tend the wounded. [Rand|Rand alThor] heads toward [Cairhien|Cairhien (City)].

The battle has brought him back near the area of [Rand|Rand alThor]'s camp. He does not think that [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] or [Melindhra|melindhra] will let him get away again. [Estean|Estean Andiama] and [Nalesean|nalesean] arrive. [Nalesean|nalesean] leads the cavalry since [Melanril|Melanril Asegora] was killed. [Talmanes|Talmanes Delovinde] and [Daerid|daerid] are with them. They report that another band of [Aiel] is approaching and that [Couladin] himself is with them. The men are developing a deep respect for [Mat|Matrim Cauthon]'s battle skill and luck. [Mat|Matrim Cauthon] again feels the dice rolling in his head as they return to the battle.[2]

[Rand|Rand alThor] starts to issue more orders, but [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] finally gets him to understand that the [Shaido] are all crossing the [River Gaelin|../geography/rivers/gaelin]. [Rand|Rand alThor] has won a complete victory. [Rand|Rand alThor] feels faint and falls from his horse. [Lan|al'Lan Mandragoran] shouts for [Moiraine|Moiraine Damodred] as [Sulin] cradles his head.
