[Perrin] decides to cook his share and he, [Elyas] and the wolf that was running with them sit together.
[Elyas] notes that the wolf likes him and [Perrin] asks what the wolf's name it, to which [Elyas] responds that it will show him when it's ready.
[Elyas] says that they've been watching [Perrin] for some time and that he's lucky that they saved [Perrin] and "that girl" (meaning [Egwene])
from the [Whitecloaks] and further tell him that [Perrin] has been sending messages for months now.
The wolf sitting next to him lost his mate several months ago as well and he still mourns her. They all see [Laila|Laila (Show)] when he sleeps.
[Perrin] wonders why they didn't approach him some time ago and [Elyas] says they don't get along well with [Aes Sedai].
The wolf next to him sends a vision of it hopping up and down and [Perrin] realizes its name is [Hopper].

[Elyas] remarks that the wolf likes [Perrin], and when [Perrin] asks its name, [Elyas] says the wolf will reveal it when ready. [Elyas] reveals that the wolves have been watching [Perrin] for a while, noting they saved him and “that girl” ([Egwene]) from the [Whitecloaks][9], and that [Perrin] has been sending messages to them for months. He adds that the wolf beside them lost its mate months ago and still mourns her, sharing that they see [Laila|Laila (Show)][10] in [Perrin]’s dreams. [Perrin] questions why the wolves didn’t approach him sooner, and [Elyas] explains their distrust of [Aes Sedai]. The wolf sends a vision of itself hopping, and [Perrin] realizes its name is [Hopper].
