Egwene POV#

In Tel'aran'rhiod, Egwene arrives at the Heart of the Stone and finds Elayne waiting. Egwene feels watched. Elayne tells her that Thom and Juilin are with them. Egwene tells Elayne about Rhuidean, Rand's marking, Aiel history, going to Alcair Dal and Rand's parents. Elayne tells her that she and Nynaeve will be in Tanchico in two or three days. Egwene tells Elayne that Aviendha can channel, then Elayne slips and tells her that Jorin can, too. Coine says Rand is their Coramoor. Elayne asks how Rand reacted to her letters. Egwene starts to reply, but feels herself being hauled away.

Egwene is lying under her blankets in her tent. Amys is there and chides her for dreamwalking alone. Amys turns into a monster and attacks Egwene. Egwene finds herself shielded and screams in terror.

Egwene is now truly awake, but still shielded. Amys roasts her for breaking her word not to enter Tel'aran'rhiod unaccompanied. She releases the shield saying that Egwene almost battered it down.[1] She says she did not know Aes Sedai could lie.[2] Egwene promises to keep her word and obey. Amys tells her to braid her hair in two braids like a little girl. Egwene is ticked because Rand and Mat do not have to follow a bunch of silly rules. Amys agrees to accompany her when she must meet with Elayne or Nynaeve.

They go to the sweat tent. Moiraine, Aviendha, Bair, Melaine and Seana are already there. The Wise Ones discuss what to do about Rand, how to keep him alive and save as many of the Aiel as possible. Rhuarc has the Jindo guarding him. They decide they need someone to teach Rand Aiel ways so he does not make mistakes. They choose Aviendha, which absolutely infuriates her.[3] Egwene asks Moiraine about her trip through the three rings. Moiraine says most of the memories are fading. Some she already knew.[4] There are others as well and they seem to be troubling her a great deal.[5] Egwene tries to enjoy the rest of her time in the sweat tent.
