Elayne POV#

Elayne is bored watching Nynaeve sleep. She Heals Nynaeve's black eye - about her limit in Healing. Thinking about Thom and the Game of Houses, she recalls another of Lini's sayings about being careful. She notices Nynaeve crying in her sleep, then she wakes sobbing. The door bursts open and Thom and Juilin bring in Birgitte. They say she suddenly appeared out of nowhere. After the men leave, Nynaeve tries to Heal Birgitte with a complex weave of Spirit, Water, Air, Earth and Fire. It does not work because there is nothing to Heal. She is just dying. Elayne weaves Spirit and bonds her as a Warder. She saw it done in the White Tower. Birgitte begins to recover. Nynaeve tells Elayne the whole story of how Moghedien caught them. She thinks Moghedien is probably still alive. She is wracked with guilt and fears that Birgitte's status as one of the Heroes of the Horn may be destroyed. They know that Moghedien will looking for a menagerie now, but there are already eleven near Samara and three more besides themselves waiting to cross the bridge. Distraught, Nynaeve goes out into the night to walk.
