Four nations, once five, comprise the Borderlands. They are Saldaea, Kandor, Arafel and Shienar. Malkier was a nation of the Borderlands before it fell to the Blight. The four rulers of the Borderlands have amassed a great army and are moving south in search of the Dragon Reborn.

- Logain reports to Rand on the Borderland army in Andor. (KoD,Ch18)
- Elayne discusses her arrangemen with the Borderlanders with the High Seats. (KoD,Ch35)
- Rand tells Rand that he has no idea why the Borderland armies would leave their posts. (TGS,Ch42)
- Rand goes to meet with the Borderlanders. He flies into a rage when he learns that they want him inside the Far Madding guardian. (TGS,Ch44)
- Rand sends Narishma to Far Madding to set up a meeting with the Borderlanders. (ToM,Ch13)
- Rand meets with the Borderland rulers. They slap him and question him on an unknown person from the Age of Legends. His responses fufull an ancient Arafellin Foretelling. Rand forces them to swear fealty to him before he will transport them to the Last Battle. (ToM,Ch51)
