Daughter of Davram Bashere and Deira Bashere. She has younger brothers, one named Maedin Bashere, and two older brothers who are dead. She has learned a little of the Maiden handtalk from Bain and Chiad.

Physical Description#

She is about Perrin's age. She is tall with black, shoulder-length hair. She has a large, bold nose, a generous mouth, high cheekbones and dark, slightly tilted eyes. (TDR,Ch33) She has a high voice. (TDR,Ch35)

She observes Perrin freeing Gaul, then killing the Whitecloaks. (TDR,Ch34)
Zarine follows Moiraine, Lan, Perrin and Loial and jumps aboard the Snow Goose. She tells Perrin a bit about herself and decides to call herself "Faile". (TDR,Ch35)

Faile and Alliandre are beaten because Sevanna's bath is not hot enough. Faile tells Galina she has the binder and, after a fight, they agree to meet the next morning. (KoD,Ch26)
Faile, Alliandre, Maighdin, Arrela and Lacile go into town. Faile retrieves the binder and they meet Galina Casban. She insists they go into the basement of a burned out house. Galina Casban leaves with the binder and collapses the stairway. Maighdin channels to signal for help. (KoD,Ch28)

Perrin tells Faile that he smells strangeness in the air and must go to the wolf dream to investigate. (ToM,Ch28)
Faile, Berelain and Alliandre walk through the camp when their weapons attack them. Faile saves Berelain. (ToM,Ch29)
Lacile and Selande report to Faile that Morgase is fine and that the Whitecloaks respect Galad. (ToM,Ch30)
Morgase sits in judgment at the trial. Byar and Bornhald testify and Perrin admits to killing the two Whitecloaks but says he fought on the same side as Geofram Bornhald at Falme. Morgase judges it to be a fight between mercenaries and finds Perrin guilty of illegal killing, not murder. She gives his punishment to Galad and he delays his sentence. (ToM,Ch34)
Faile, Alliandre and Berelain are all angry that Morgase found Perrin guilty. Perrin tells Faile he is going to the wolf dream to confront Slayer. She is to have the army Travel to Whitebridge when Traveling works again. (ToM,Ch35)
Perrin wakes to find Faile beside him and tells her about Hopper. After he is Healed, they Travel to Whitebridge. (ToM,Ch38)
Faile is part of the crowd that watches Perrin forge his war hammer. He orders Faile, Berelain and Alliandre to stay back when his army goes to rescue the Whitecloaks. (ToM,Ch40)
Before the attack, Perrin explains to Faile why he suspected an attack on the Whitecloaks. (ToM,Ch41)

Perrin and Faile have an audience with Elayne and Morgase. Though tense at the start, they finally agree that Elayne will cede the Two Rivers to the Dragon Reborn with Perrin as his steward. (ToM,Ch47)
